This walk is slightly different from usual as it combines a walk in the countryside with the opportunity to visit the famous Rose Garden at Mottisfont Abbey.
Hope to see lots of you there…..

|Directions||Drive to Stockbridge A303, and A30 then follow signs to Mottisfont Abbey A3057. On arrival at the entrance to Mottisfont Abbey car park don’t turn into the car park but drive straight on through Mottisfont village for about a quarter of a mile and turn left into Bengers Lane, continue to T Junction where you turn right and Spearywell car park is about half a mile on the left handside of the road just before you get to Spearywell Farmhouse which is on the righthandside.|
|Other notes||This is a varied and pretty walk through ancient woodlands, and quiet countryside. There are two short, gentle inclines but it is mostly flat and easy walking. It was very dry when we walked it but there may be a few slightly muddy places if we have had recent rainfall. A couple of narrow sections are overgrown with nettles and goose grass so long trousers rather than shorts might be advisable.
After the walk which I estimate will be at about 2pm to 2.30p.m. we will drive from Spearywell Car Park to the Mottisfont Abbey car park (1.5 miles, 5 mins) and visit the rose gardens and have afternoon tea.
National Trust Members remember to bring your membership card. Otherwise entrance fee is £7.10 for the gardens and £10.70 for the house and gardens.
N.B.There are no toilet facilites at Spearywell Car Park but there are ample opportunities to commune with nature in the woods. There are of course loo facilities at Mottisfont Abbey.
