First of all we hope you are all well and continuing to cope with the restrictions of lockdown.
It is rather ironic that we had a full programme of walks lined up for this year thanks to so many members volunteering to lead walks and the weather has been exceptionally good for enjoying walking in the last two months and yet we have not been able to take advantage of this together. However we hope you have still been able to enjoy the lovely countryside around Oakley on your daily exercise excursions. We are indeed very fortunate to live where we do and have a such a network of local pathways through open green spaces.
Your committee held a meeting online last night to discuss the way forward and we decided that we must continue to be patient and await further guidance from the government before we can consider being able to resume our walking programme.
Today’s announcement that up to six people can meet outside if maintaining the 2 meters distance is an encouraging sign and we hope if this goes well we might be able to resume our walks with confidence later in the summer.
In the meantime stay well and we hope you can continue to enjoy the outdoors in small groups.
Chris and the committee.
