Oakley Ramblers Club Walks Diary and Covid19
I hope you are all continuing in good health and finding plenty to do to preserve your sanity in these challenging times.
In response to the changing government advice and the lifting of some restrictions from July 4th the committee have held a “Zoom” meeting to discuss how we might move towards resuming some group walking in the next few months and we are writing to find out your thoughts about this. We are very aware that everyone’s circumstances are different and quite a few of our members may fall into the vulnerable category which will understandably make them more cautious, whereas others may be keen to re-establish a walking programme.
The government advice says that from July 4th we may meet outside in groups of up to six people from different households for walking providing we maintain social distancing. The Ramblers Association say that from that date they are going to resume walks for groups of six people. Places on these walks will have to be booked in advance. If Oakley Ramblers were to hold walks with the same sort of arrangements, we feel that we would also need to avoid car sharing and pub visits for a while longer.
To help us with our planning please could you let us know before Friday 10th July, if you would be happy to join a walk with such arrangements in place. Those of you who were in the walks diary to lead a walk earlier this year and have not been able to do so yet, would you be willing to still lead your walk on a different date between now and the end of the year? Are those who are due to lead a walk between now and the end of the year, still willing to do so and if so would you wish to change the date? We need to know how members are feeling to ascertain if we can put together a new walks diary starting in late July. Obviously, any plans we were to make would be subject to change depending on developments and government advice.
Please email your response to the club email address:
Thank you in advance for your assistance and we look forward to hearing from you.
Chris Williams (on behalf of the committee)
