I reccied this walk with Carolyn at the weekend and it is such a pretty scenic walk and this is the perfect time of year to do it.

Distance of Walk6.5 miles. Should be completed in 3 hours, walking at an average pace.
Start Time & Place                    (Meet 10 mins before start)Meet in Oakley School layby at 9.20am to leave promptly at 9.30am or meet at the start of the walk to leave 10.00am.  Please inform Carolyn if travelling directly to Wherwell so we don’t leave without you.

Walk description / difficulty Relatively easy through meadows and woodland.  Some gentle up and down paths. 1 steep slope down to bottom of meadow.  Great views across the fields.  Woods were a wash with bluebells.  Saw many different butterflies.  No muddy paths and no rain predicted before weekend.
TerrainMostly footpaths and byways along side fields and through woodland. Road walking out from and back into Wherwell as well as through the hamlet of Goodworth Clatford.

Directions to start of walkTake the A303 towards Andover and come off at the sign for Wherwell. Travel along the B3048 into Wherwell. Turn left into Church Street bu the War Memorial. Parking is at the bottom near the church.
Where we can eat/drink        (If applicable)Longstock Park Café, Farm Shop and Garden Centre.                   Sat Nav: SO20 6EH.  Café serves lunch between 12pm-3pm.     Farm Shop and Garden Centre are open between 10am and 4pm. 
Other notesIf travelling to Longstock Park Café you will pass Longstock Park Water Gardens,  Sat Nav: SO20 6EH, on your left.  Car Park is opposite entrance.  Open from 10am-4pm. Entrance £10, payment by card only. Easy walking on flat paths all around the ponds, islands and woodland valleys.  Most of the garden can be seen with an hour and a half.  If you don’t wish to join us on the Wherwell walk, visit the Water Gardens and then join the walkers at the Café for tea and cake.
